What Shoes to Wear with an A-Line Wedding Dress? This is probably a question that echoes in your mind as you prepare for your wedding. Picking out a wedding dress is enough of a headache, now, faced with rows and rows of fabulous shoes, the choice seems to become even more complicated.
Don't worry, I'm Jennifer Evans, the fashion editor of BRIDALVENUS, and I'm here to explore with you how to find that perfect pair of shoes that will complement your A-line wedding dress, but also allow you to walk around in comfort and ease all night long.
The A-line silhouette is the overall shape your wedding dress presents when worn! When choosing shoes for an A-line wedding dress, consider the wedding venue, the amount of time you'll be walking or standing, and how well the shoes complement the style and details of the A-line silhouette.
Additionally, consider the length of the gown's hem; if the dress is longer, the shoes will be less visible, so comfort might be your top priority. For tea-length A-line dresses, where the shoes are fully visible, the appearance of the shoes becomes more important, and more thought should be put into choosing them.
If your gown has a cathedral train that completely covers the shoes, I recommend opting for comfortable heels or sandals. If you're not used to wearing heels, loafers are also a good choice.
If your A-line wedding dress has a hem that falls above the ankles, I suggest looking for shoes with distinctive features such as peep toes, straps, bows, or crystal and pearl embellishments, or shoes with a unique design. These stylish shoes will beautifully complement your wedding dress.
When choosing the right shoes for your A-shape wedding dress, you should first consider your height and body type. Brides less than 160cm tall should choose high heels or boots to add height and create a slimming visual effect. For plus size brides, low or medium heeled shoes will be a more comfortable choice, they can reduce the pressure on the ball of your feet and enable you to stand and dance comfortably for longer.
When choosing the color and style of your shoes, they should be coordinated with the color of your wedding dress. If your A-line wedding dress comes with detailed decorations, such as embroidery or lace, choosing shoes with a similar style will be more harmonious.
Consider the season and venue of your wedding as well. For example, if you are planning a wedding on the beach, then high heels may not be a good choice as they can sink in the soft sand and make walking difficult. In this case, a pair of fine flats or sandals would be a more appropriate choice.
And if your wedding is held in winter, although open-toe shoes may look less warm, choosing a pair of open-toe shoes with sexy and elegant design can show your style as well.
Once you've chosen your wedding shoes for your A-line wedding dress, it's crucial to make sure they're comfortable. Here are some of my personal tips:
Break in your wedding shoes: wear your wedding shoes at home for at least an hour a day for a few weeks before the wedding. This will allow the shoes to fit the shape of your feet better and detect possible discomfort early.
Properly fitted insoles: choose gel insoles designed for high heels, they will reduce the pressure on the forefoot and allow you to walk freely on your wedding day.
Spare shoes: Have a pair of decorative flats as a backup, especially for long hours of standing or dancing, so you can give your feet the necessary rest while maintaining your style.
Anti-slip measures: If the wedding is outdoors or you may encounter slippery surfaces, take care of the anti-slip treatment in advance to ensure every step is steady.
By sharing these experiences, I hope to help every bride who is about to enter the marriage hall to not only look beautiful on her wedding day, but to feel comfortable and embraced 24/7. After all, when you look back on the day, it should be with a full sense of happiness, not a memory of sore feet.
